Our Location: Mazomanie, Wisconsin. Founded as an early railroad outpost in the late
1800s, the village has a long and colorful history. The name comes from native Indian
language, and refers to “Walking Iron” an early description of the powerful and impressive
steam locomotives. Several local businesses use railroad references in their names, and you
will see that the Mazomanie emblem is a steam engine.
Located in the northwest corner of Dane County, the local geography is varied and
impressive. The Wisconsin River valley is just to the north, and that area is a wide, flat
prairie. This soon swoops up into dramatic hills and valleys that continue to the west and
eventually the Mississippi River valley. The outline of the landmark Blue Mound can be seen
to the south from many of the ridges.
Our Building: ProCycle is located in a large building in the Mazomanie Downtown Historic
District. Known as the Lamboley Building, it was constructed in the 1850s just next to the
railroad tracks as a Hotel. When you visit ProCycle, you will notice a large 30 foot concrete
arch which spans the interior. This has been named the Victory Arch, and painted an
appropriate shade of leader jersey yellow.
For the cyclist, our location means wide streets, and convenient parking. This makes for easy
and safe demo rides on our bikes, right out the front door. The area in general is a popular
destination for bicyclists, due to the easy access to multiple bike routes which can be taken
for short or long rides.
The Downtown Historic District is located on Brodhead Street, (also County Y), just a
couple of blocks north of Hwy. 14. Watch for the big flagpole in the center of the District, and
check out the new Promenade Park, being developed in the summer of 2008! Also nearby,
some excellent Art Galleries, shops and restaurants.
